Nu-Lite OpensNu-Lite, Inc. opened its doors for business in April, 1950, in New Orleans at 501 Esplanade Avenue. In 1955, Fred & Dottie Corales changed Nu-Lite, Inc. into the company we know today, Nu-Lite Electrical Wholesalers, and relocated to 411 Frenchman Street. While in this location, Nu-Lite became involved in its first major construction job by supplying the lighting fixtures for the new Harvey tunnel. Nu-Lite Job Quotations DepartmentNu-Lite began to grow, thanks to our loyal customers, and in 1961, moved to a larger facility at 738 O'Keefe avenue. During the 17 years that followed, our job quotations department was born. The success of this department has developed into an integral part of our present day operations. Through the combined efforts of each of our valued employees, Nu-Lite became one of the leading commercial construction distributors in the New Orleans area. Nu-Lite participated in many of New Orleans' major construction ventures of the time such as; the Moisant Airport concourse addition (1974), the Louisiana Superdome (1975), and the development of the Poydras Corridor (Hyatt Regency Hotel, Freeport McMoran bldg., LL&E bldg., One Shell Square, Pan American Life bldg., etc). Branching Out - GrowthIn June, 1978, we moved to the outskirts of New Orleans into a new, undeveloped section called Elmwood Industrial Park. Our new 29,000 square foot facility was located at 837 Distributors Row in Harahan, La. While in this location, Nu-Lite blossomed to the operation of five branch stores throughout the New Orleans metropolitan area:
Nu-Lite has distributed Square D equipment from its inception, and over time, has become the largest Square D distributor in Louisiana. In 1985, Nu-Lite joined SIED (Southern Independent Electrical Distributors), an orgainization that would become THE IMARK GROUP. This member owned network of distributors has about 900 locations throughout the U.S. to serve your needs with pride and commitment that national chains can't match. Industrial BusinessTo diversify our business mix, in the early 90's, Nu-Lite made a concerted effort to increase its share of the industrial market. In 1995, we solidified our industrial presence by becoming the sole authorized distributor of Square D / Modicon automation products for southeast Louisiana. In November, 1998, Nu-Lite moved "into the future" to our current, 50,000 square foot, state of the art facility at 850 Edwards Avenue, Harahan, Louisiana. Customers and EmployeesNu-Lite has benefitted throughout its history from its loyal and competent employees. It is our dedicated employees that have made the difference as we have expanded through the years. We remain the largest, independent electrical distributor in the area. We continue as the leader in the commercial market place, and through our Industrial / Automation Division, are becoming a leader in the industrial market place. Our 63 years of success is a result of you, our valued customers. Thank you for a great journey so far, and for all that is to come. |
